Efren Penaflorida

Euphoria, is there such a thing? In this day and age, is it still possible to experience genuine elation? Is happiness still easy to achieve?

Human is naturally uncontainable.
Human needs grow as our capability to have our resources grows.

In a world where money and power prevail, would idealism still work?
Will humanity still prevail?

Well, I may not have the Nirvana of elation right now, but I still owe it to myself to stay clear and naturally elated.

Now we, as a nation has something to be genuinely happy for and it comes with a name

Independence day

modern heroes

The icons of our country's freedom. We shall keep them beyond mere conceptual world. Cheers to our country! We see hope. We shall seek change, but we shall say no to CON ASS. Do I see a nod?

Student Activism

I am a graduate of PUP, an institution known for activism and massive student actions. I remember being asked if I was a student activist during college in almost all of my job interviews right after I graduated. I was never active in doing protests. To start with, I was never a student activist. I never grew interest to take the part. It’s not because I find the idea lousy or insignificant, but maybe I am not that brave and bold to siege the streets and roam the university to voice out opinions of opposition to our university policies.

I remember one professor say that the state of our university reflects the state of the nation. I would say partly true, except for the truth that no high class, well powered people are dwelling within our grounds. We are a state university which holds real “masa” students who are aware of the things happening around them. The “mass” segment that doesn’t fear people in ranks and position. We see what’s wrong. Some of us (including myself) will stay mum about it while most will go out and fight for what’s right.

I would always look up to those student activists. I commend them for their courage and stamina to fight for their beliefs and convictions. On a nutshell, I believe that activism is within us all. We may not be roaming the streets to shout and be bombarded by policemen, but we take participation in our own little ways. Getting involved doesn’t mean getting into the streets all the time. There are so many other avenues to fight. What’s substantial is that we know what’s wrong from right, and consult our conscience to decide which party to side with.

FALL OUT BOY LIVE IN MANILA 2009 PHOTOS

It was Friday the 13th but no fear reigned, only pure and high Euphoria! Okay, it may sound a little too superlative but I really enjoyed the Fall Out Boy Concert in Araneta Coliseum. They started with "Thanks for the Memories" and the rest is like songs full of climax and rocking orgasm.

The best part? When they sung "American Boy" by Estelle. Pete said "Manila girl, I'll take you to New York! I'll take you to LA!" Then the girls went Lady Gaga, I mean they went super Gaga.

Here's hoping that FOB will make their Philippine visit a yearly activity! Yihaaa!
Okay, Ill be quiet now.

Opps, its kinda late for this post and forgive me for the photos, I enjoyed way much I forgot to capture the memories.

THE DREAM MATCH: DELA HOYA VS. PACQUIAO

dela hoya vs. pacquiao

Finally, the most awaited match will now come into solid figures and we, Filipinos just can’t wait to see the DREAM MATCH: DELA HOYA VS. PACQUIAO. This historic match will be seen in GMA 7, December 07, 2008 at 10:00 AM, Philippine Time. Im sure Philippine busy clocks will take a freezing moment again as soon as first blood is drawn.

In this very thought, we all know that premiere sports brand, Nike takes its anchor campaign all the time with the icon there is in Manny Pacquiao. Now, of course Nike won’t pass an aperture in this Dream Match! I am so into this “Give us This Day” Nike campaign for Pacquiao’s shining fight. Of course, limited edition memorabilia will be available in Nike stores for this campaign. What’s good about this campaign is that Nike built an online support wherein people can send in their prayers and stories plus words of encouragement for Manny. This Print Ad is undeniably a creative winner.

Kudos to Manny Pacquiao early on and lets all cheer as we add another weight to the fierce Filipino face in the world!

THE SMILING MOON

The Text

From Abby ( a high school friend)

“if you’re out right now, look for the moon. They say God is smiling.”

The Reaction:

Denis went out of the house to see the moon. Not found.

Denis went inside to the kitchen windows. Moon not found.

He went into his room to grab the camera.

Denis went inside his mother’s room immediately to the window. FOUND!

Chills are all over him. A little shallow but he thought its surreal.

He sent group messages to these list to spread the word:

Family, Office, Blog friends, College, High school.

He immediately captured the divine sight.

Two stars served as eyes. And the moon’s arc served as smiling lips.

SMS replies:

Yes saw it already kuya.

Yeah man, saw it in the news.

They say it would last for a week.

It’s the alignment of Jupiter and Venus.

Denis thought this is quite a fascinating scene; God sending his smile on the first night of the Christmas month. At the same time, he’s aware that this is a scientific happening and he can’t wait to see more.
