A Random Hello

And so I learn I wouldn’t say this blog is back to being active anymore – action speaks louder than words.

Let us not try to figure out how/why I lost the mojo to write. Important thing is Im back and hopefully, this shining boredom will stay so I’ll lose all the reason not to blog again.

So what is up and going?

PROBLEMS.

It’s consuming me but NO, giving up is not an option. And since Im a fan of positive thoughts, I won’t discuss this any further. But just so you know, I’m here but I’m unstable.

For so many reasons incubating in my mind, I find all great reasons to blog again and so here…

A random hello to you, in case a reader is in front of my blog right now.

Hello po.

Ding ding! Is this thing still working?

Updates,updates!

Busy. I think the past few days have been really busy for me. Work deadlines got tangled up and I somehow had some dilemmas producing quality works. Oh well, what can I do? This is advertising and all eyes are on you. Sabi nga nila, you can’t please everyone.

American Idol. Woot! My idol bet Kris Allen won the title for season 8! Many people I know have been mocking my support, but what the heck? Losers are always bitter-Kapag natalo, nadaya. Ha Ha Ha. Another idol thingie to tell you about is when I watched the David Cook and David Archuleta concert in SM Mall of Asia Concert grounds. I liked Archie’s repertoire more but Cook did a good job in audience rapport. Sinung nagsabi na may swine flu scare? Or may recession sa bansa, eh 40,000 plus ang nanood ng concert!

Controversy. This Katrina H and Hayden K issue is already so tiring. Sigurado ako, after a while panonoorin naman natin ang reconciliation nila sa mga showbiz oriented talk shows. But, seriously, we have to be very careful and responsible with the internet freedom we have. Be human enough naman in using this blessing of technology. It may sound cheesy, but self-gain is evil in contemplation.

Sick. Ive been weak and sick these past few days, maybe because of the many events and social gathering I’ve been present in. A friend got married, and some friends need help because of recent break-ups. Iwan ko ha, uso ba ang hiwalayan? Si anu tsaka si anu na lang ata ang di naghihiwalay. Si Juday at Ryan kaya? =)

Wired. I am sooooooo happy to have twitter, plurk and facebook. It’s so entertaining and the thought of communicating online with people I don’t really know is surreal. Tipong online lang naman kayo nag-usap, pero pag nagkita na parang kilala nyo na talaga ang isa’t-isa. Hey, im not talking about those sleazy eye balls okay? Sana lang talaga, wag naman marating ng Wowowee crowd ang Facebook land kasi baka... ay wag na nga.

So, yan na muna siguro for now. Ikaw, what’s on your mind? And oh, I know Angels and Demons is good, but Startrek is just oh awesome!

TAWAD SYSTEM

tawad

Having done a lot of shopping and purchases last holiday reign, I have noticed that a Filipino trait remains as ubiquitous as ever. I believe that this Filipino trait has travelled way past the old ages and it has evolved into many faces up until it reached the contemporary. I am talking about the “Tawad System”. Like “Filipino time” (being late for significant events) and “Manyana” Habit (procrastination), “Tawad System” has been deemed rather negative and an actual mishap in thinking that this can actually make us Filipinos look smart and well, practical. Say the term can also be concealed in business to be “negotiation” or “singing bids”.

I have to admit that I do “tawad” most of the time especially when I am in a very casual place with absence of security, parking and yes, air conditioning systems. Unlike the set trend of always asking for half the price (which is just outward wrong and “bastardic”), I always try to psyche up the “tindera” to what selling price is acceptable for her which will do great favour for both of us. For example, I am confident to have “tawad” when I am to purchase more than one unit.

But, “tawad system” can be so wrong. Business people are already aware of this practice so they have the tendency to over- price goods and/or services to give provision for “tawad”. Price negotiations can take place in all sorts of purchases and I wonder if prostitution can also welcome “tawad” in the industry.

I think that you also use this tricky Filipino trait most of the time. I see nothing wrong with this for as long as it’s always a mutual agreement and not a self-serving trick you do just to push your high belief in the cliche “customer is always right”.

Add on: The Menace was doing this article while he watches “You don’t Mess with the Zonan”. The Menace thought the movie was totally no-brainer and was done in honor of all the pervs out there. But, he can’t help but admit that the movie was totally funny. The Menace was also writing this down while negotiating with her sister on who shall be in-charge of the laundry now that their mom sprained her middle finger which was stacked in washing machine while doing the laundry. The Menace wins above her sister and accepted the compromise to do the dishes instead.

EMO

Is it a lifestyle, a phenomenon or simply a fad?

They call themselves EMO. They are very distinct- in attitude, in clothing, even in the way they view life. EMO is an idea which can be described by bangs symmetrically cut to expose the nose and lips while hiding some parts of the eyes. The crown area can look like spikes and there could be variations of this base style. Clothing is basically an ensemble of very skinny jeans, tight shirt or chequered top with a scarf. Some may sport big sneakers or jazzed up chucks or Vans. Eyeliners can also be worn even by guys who live by the EMO concept.

Call it a fad because characters were actually made to define how EMO concept looks like.

Call it a lifestyle because people implementing this concept in their lives are actually living in a slow, well thought of frames of daily deliverance.

Say its a phenomenon because music is also embracing the EMO concept.

Just so I will be able to define what EMO is, I consulted Wikipedia and this is what i got.

Emo (pronounced /ˈiːmoʊ/) is a genre of music that originated from hardcore punk [1] and later adopted pop punk influences when it became mainstream in the United States.

It has since come to describe several variations of music with common roots and associated fashion and stereotypes.

In the mid-1980s, the term emo described a subgenre of hardcore punk which stemmed from the Washington, D.C. music scene. In later years, the term emocore, short for "emotional hardcore",[2][3] was also used to describe the emotional performances of bands in the Washington, D.C. scene and some of the offshoot regional scenes such as Rites of Spring, Embrace, One Last Wish, Beefeater, Gray Matter, Fire Party, and later, Moss Icon

In the mid-1990s, the term emo began to refer to the indie scene that followed the influences of Fugazi, which itself was an offshoot of the first wave of emo. Bands including Sunny Day Real Estate, Far and Texas Is the Reason had a more indie rock style of emo, more melodic and less chaotic. The so-called "indie emo" scene survived until the late 1990s, when many of the bands either disbanded or shifted to mainstream styles. As the remaining indie emo bands entered the mainstream, newer bands began to emulate the mainstream style.

Today popular bands like Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance,[4] Panic at the Disco,[5] and Paramore[6] are described as emo.

In recent years the popular media has associated emo with a stereotype that includes being emotional, sensitive, shy, introverted, or angsty.[24][25][26] It is also associated with depression, self-injury, and suicide.[27][28]

I think that this season, more people will appreciate the concept. Ask if I’m a part of this segment? I’d say not. Hey, I can’t sport the look and so is the entire lifestyle.

BOXER SHORTS OR BRIEFS?

BOXERS OR BRIEFS

Today, let me try Men Rx topic again. Im sure you wouldn’t pass information that would save your health and save your ehem, gateway to “divine happiness. Let me try to use euphemism and cryptic terms to articulate this topic. Nah, just kidding.

Thanks by the way to my boss for giving me the idea for this post. According to him, there was this one radio program which took a small debate on which men undergarment is best used or more pleasing to health- briefs or boxer shorts? My immediate response would be briefs. I have been so well accustomed to the feeling of wearing brief as my undergarment for 22 years already. I could wear boxer shorts but would still don briefs inside. Weird but I really don’t feel comfortable feeling the thingie hanging loose.

Now here’s some brainy argument. According to the physician invited in the radio program I mentioned earlier, it is healthier to wear boxer short because the man balls should naturally be hanging. Some says that having this loose feeling all the time will make sperms more active. Also, doctors were suggesting growing boys to wear loose undergarment to keep the testicle free letting it produce more growth hormones. Now, some would argue that wearing briefs would actually make the man balls grow tighter and this is way healthier. As of the press time (or at least based on how far I’ve gone researching), this VERY SERIOUS ANOMALY OF IDEAS IS STILL BEING LOBBIED ON. Much sarcasm? He He

NOW I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW YOUR TAKE ON THIS. IF YOURE A GUY OF COURSE, ARE A BRIEF ‘STRAIGHTFORWARD’ OR A BOXER SHORTS “LOOSE FREE GUY’? =)

JOLLY JEEP

Jolly Jeep

Jolly jeeps are small food stalls which appear more like a truck fragment punched side by side to pop with windows. Predominantly found in the Makati area (the business central of the Philippines) Jolly Jeep caters to various markets working in that area – working class, professionals, blue collar workers and students. I had my own slice of experience with Jolly Jeep food. It was the time when I am still doing my internship at Creation Station Productions. It’s true when they said that these food stalls are friendly in price and a true blue winner in taste!

Economic news has it that businesses like Jolly Jeeps or food business in general will potently endure this not so pleasing season of economic difficulty. It’s because the overhead expenses are quite minimal in food businesses. Another thing is that food is a necessity. Jolly jeeps are strategically located within the busy streets of Makati from which they have already formed a sort of solid customer base.

I miss the food in Jolly Jeep as much as I miss the street foods of PUP. Come; let’s take a detour in Makati (for Jolly Jeep) and Manila (for PUP food)

PENIS

Now, before you throw in your “ews” and disappointment remarks because you think I’m sleazy, hear me out first. I am born D-E-N-I-S Guevara Claves and like what I said on my profile, my name was just chosen by my mom from a baby book. Now, I always joke about the somewhat weird spelling of my name in comparison of course to the conventional D-E-N-N-I-S. Imagine my name misspelled. Say, you accidentally dropped the D and replaced it with P. This case happens all the time especially when manually writing down my name on a paper. This pitch always works during my job interviews. It helped me inject humor which leads to a relaxed momentum.

April (the best friend) requested for me to write about this and humiliate myself (insert smiley here). Oh well, I believe in laughing at one’s self to be very human so what the heck.

Now, careful when writing me a letter alright? Ha Ha Ha. I hope this thought is funny to you, or else I lost all the right reasons and came out just sleazy.

A STARE

A stare, it’s very visual and strikes you in one of the most keen and sharp organs of the body-the eye. I believe that a stare can be so powerful. One can relatively gauge a person’s character in a momentary stare. I’ve seen a lot of stares, and experienced a lot of it too.

A stare can be bad. I’ve seen people in the MRT with this kind of stare. People can get really agitated in situations where you feel to tightened and sweaty. A person can also stare you bad because you stepped into his/her foot. I have actually witnessed a catfight between two females inside the MRT because of a bad stare. A little too shallow I’d say.

A stare can be good, of course. It can mean positive physical attraction. You’ll know it in a stare if someone is attracted to you. I can be a cut sharp stare or a shy stance. It is also a natural occurrence to give a stare to someone we admire physically. It can happen in random situation and with random strangers. I’m not talking about casual sex of course.

Do you stare too? - Because in my case, stare is my turf. Ha Ha Ha. Go figure.

Stories on a Weekend

Because it was a Holiday last Wednesday, I thought of taking a leave on a Thursday in time to accompany my mom in the hospital for her annual general check-up. It’s been quite a while since I last went to a hospital and it was quite a nostalgic scene for new-born babies. Why so? The last two episodes of my hospital were when Santino (my nephew and God son) was born November of last year’s, and when Francesca (my God daughter) was born last August. So, I guess, for as long as I am never confined with all the strings and dextrose, hospitals will always remind me of new born humans!

So it turned out that my mom is super healthy. I’m so glad to know. Except from some pain meds prescribed, mother Lucia is at the pink of her health. I think her diet works. So the
check-up happened last Thursday right? Tuesday night was spent in a sleep over at April’s place. We were supposed to just have a dinner but then she convinced me to snooze out in her house. I was quite skeptical knowing that she and her sister are on this no-speaking state as of the moment because my best friend did something sooo girly again. It actually involved lying, yet again. I was involved in the orchestration of her not so true story/cover up, so her siter confirmed her story to me that night. I don’t want to substantiate the story, but it was really one of my nervous moments.

I was really planning to take a good sleep during my two-day vacation but activities went on my way so I reported at work yesterday sluggish and a little unwell. Some unpleasant emails also greeted me in the morning, so it was all in all a slow and blue day yesterday. Thank you very much to all the bastards in the world.

Lucky by Jason Mraz Ft. Colby Caillat

Here I go again sharing with you my favorite song of the moment. This is lucky by Jason Mraz and Colby Caillat. Yes, this contains another feel good melody and I am now a hand down Jason Mraz fan. The lyrics are definitive. It will strike you with lots of thought. This is another song that I will dedicate to my “That One person”. So many songs now for that one person but we still haven’t met. Ahahah. No more drama please.
