I am not Plastic

Plastic has been a hot issue here in the Philippines. More and more people are getting aware of the fact that the garbage count on earth is becoming severe as time goes by. A lot of nature advocates have been researching towards finally crafting the best solution to combat pollution and too much waste. A lot of us are aware of the “I am not plastic” campaign supported by large companies like SM and Ayala Malls. The campaign aims to promote the use of non-plastic materials as shopping bags like cloth or paper. To better execute the campaign, the strategy was done in a very fashionable way- shopping with class while saving Mother Nature. I’d say it is in deed a brilliant idea. We all know that once a plastic material cam into being, it will forever stay unless it is burned. We know that burning plastic materials will cause the production of elements that can possibly deplete the ozone layer, our protection against direct ultra violet rays. So, no matter how usable a plastic thing is, it is still a major environment and health hazard.
So, we all say Kudos to those influential companies who take part on this massive battle against pollution and environment hazard. One big lift for you guys!

You’re ugly, you’re fired!

Hello everyone! Here I am again for another edition of the Bong Sumbong Chronicles. For this specific post, I would to talk about the discriminations in hiring employees here in the Philippines. It just so happened that I have this friend who applied for a somewhat prominent company that abruptly rejected her because of physical looks. Now, don’t get me wrong by thinking that I’m over exaggerating. I am aware of some industries that require pleasing physical looks- like being personnel in a clothing boutique. There are also some industries that will require some employees to have a face to face talk with big clients, and of course “pleasing personality” is necessary to win a conversation. These facts that I stated here are all acceptable, but what I am concerned about is if companies forget to have a solid requirements or criteria in choosing their men of work force. Say for example, a company that only hires graduates of selected schools, and if you were not too blessed with financial equipments and the dollar tongue, it’s a sore sorry for you dear. Now, discrimination goes beyond the physical attributes and educational preparations. Some companies even discriminate culture, religion and lifestyle (and by lifestyle, I mean sexual orientation.) Now, what the hell is wrong with the world with all of these?
Is the world really unfair? Or do we have to always be ready with a battle mode just to assert our equal rights and opportunities. I would always believe that having what we want in life will extract its fruits if we direct our energy within the portals of our suited destination (Now, I think that came out too vague). What I really want to say is to stop aspiring for things that can’t possibly be yours, and focus on things that show more promise within the boundaries of your capability. Just like what they always say; when its meant for you, it will find its way to you.

No Fad Please

It’s square.
It has multiple colors and it may vary.
It actually goes beyond colors now; it can be pictures, numbers or even a TV show.
It is perceived as an “intelligent” pastime. Before, only few people try to do it, but now I can see everyone holding it- in stores, schools, offices, trains, churches, malls, and yeah everywhere. I think that playing this “thingie” has become more of a fad. The sense of it being an “intelligent kiddo’s” game does not exist anymore. And did I mention that Im talking about the Rubix cube? Oh well, I am talking about it, and “who the who” is not talking about it anyways? Everyone is playing this thing and everyone has turned this thing into a fad and not a fascinating skill anymore- especially now that it’s a fact that there is a pattern in solving the Rubix Cube puzzle

"Moderate the Greed"

Among the rumbles, crumbes and mumbles of bumble bee, oh I mean of our government issues, one outstanding ( a lot of pun intended) line caught my ever receptive attention --

"Moderate the Greed."

Now, we don't need to be intrigued by "who the who" said this. And I need not drop names too, because I don't know "who the who" said it too. All that I am aiming for is to somehow elaborate on how greed can be moderated? Greed in my own "brain processing" is an act of wanting, aiming and owning things or anything (be it tangible or intangible) in an ample amount or an overly massive content that is beyond what is proper and acceptable as dictated by the natural norms of human sense. Whoah! can you just imagine the works of Webster in defining everything? Now, does giving moderation to greed means getting holy or good? Or, in the first place, can greed be really moderated?

Is this a laughing stuff?
Am I just exerting too much thinking to what is deemed insignificant?
Please don't laugh at me.

The Menace says Thanks++

For this week, here is my top five things to be thankful for:
1. The birth of Bong Sumbong Tipster here on the Greenfields. He will surely help me improve this blog a lot.
2. Smorty for finally approving my blog and giving me my first project. I am not so sure though that it went all good. It feels like I did something wrong. Oh well, there's always room for first time.
3. The blessings of pay day! Needless to expound on this, right?
4. My mom for letting me sleep in her room -alone. Yeah, that means I made her sleep in my air bed on the floor in our living room. Hehe. Peace mom!
5. People in Pinoy Blogosphere for giving me a lot of kind words to combat my frustrations in making this blog so wonderfully wonderful. Maraming salamat mga kapwa ko blogerista!
