PINOY FEAR FACTOR

Pinoy Fear Factor logo

It's currently hot in the local boob tubes and is currently being buzzed about- Pinoy Fear Factor, Argentina South America premiered last week and I am taking this chance to give my early review of the program. Not that I have been following USA versions of Fear Factor but anyone can notice that Philippine version is really different. I’d say it’s just right to tweak the format for it to appeal more towards the Philippine audience.

First off, the program aced prime host Ryan Agoncillo to be the main face of the show. I see no flaw in Ryan’s hosting capabilities but I think that he appears physically weak and soft. I have been discussing this idea with friends and we all agree to conclude that Ryan will work more effectively with reality shows like Pinoy Idol and Talentadong Pinoy ( TV 5 show Agoncillo is currently hosting).

The Participantes are well selected. There still exists the rivalry of those with well-off life vs. the not so economically powerful individuals. There is still the scope of because the person needs the money, he/she shall win. Of course, this story line will always work, but we have to keep in mind that reality shows are none scripted and the outcome shall be fluid and uncontrolled. At least, we wish reality shows to be working like these.

Finally, the over- all execution and visual texture- this segment, I couldn’t say anything wrong. It has always been the trademark of ABS-CBN to produce quality shows. It is given that the location is really great but I believe that is the film appearance that makes the program visually appealing.

Pinoy Fear factor airs at ABS-CBN at primetime on weekdays after I love Betty la Fea.

JOLLY JEEP

Jolly Jeep

Jolly jeeps are small food stalls which appear more like a truck fragment punched side by side to pop with windows. Predominantly found in the Makati area (the business central of the Philippines) Jolly Jeep caters to various markets working in that area – working class, professionals, blue collar workers and students. I had my own slice of experience with Jolly Jeep food. It was the time when I am still doing my internship at Creation Station Productions. It’s true when they said that these food stalls are friendly in price and a true blue winner in taste!

Economic news has it that businesses like Jolly Jeeps or food business in general will potently endure this not so pleasing season of economic difficulty. It’s because the overhead expenses are quite minimal in food businesses. Another thing is that food is a necessity. Jolly jeeps are strategically located within the busy streets of Makati from which they have already formed a sort of solid customer base.

I miss the food in Jolly Jeep as much as I miss the street foods of PUP. Come; let’s take a detour in Makati (for Jolly Jeep) and Manila (for PUP food)

INSPIRED

ESTEE LAUDER

I know that the current economic situation will really test the character, not just of extremely strong countries but most individuals. We can feel fear and uncertainty everywhere gearing us towards much preparation for the expected worst case scenarios. My personal mantra on all these is to keep positive. To keep my spirits high and believe that everything will soon fall into its places and time will make things better. To help me uplift these beliefs, I opt to get inspirations from people who made it amidst the trying times of economic crunch or basically, defying the impossible- People whom we came to tag as Nouveau Riche.

From an article of Fortune website, names of famous people with outstanding counts of wealth and power have been listed as Nouveau Riche. The term denotes the phenomenon of people gaining wealth out of almost nothing. From a downscale lifestyle, these people upgraded to enjoying high end kind of living all because they worked hard towards getting to the top.

From the stories of people featured in the website, I can’t help but feel that there really shouldn’t be anything termed as impossible. We live to maximize the potentials we have. We live to enrich the blessings around us. I believe that there should always be a union of pure blessings and good human nature to become successful and yes, a Nouveau Riche.

CHRISTMAS GATHERING

Eastwood City

Hello everyone, it’s been quite an erratic mode of blogging from my end all because I need to really give much attention to a project were currently working on. Anyways, I can’t help but feel the holiday scene slowly biting in. There may be minimal decors and lights as of the moment but the temperature is already giving sight (or feel) to the upcoming Christmas!

In this season of parties and celebrations, I am writing this post to give a new taste to the already tradition of my college block mates to have a “one time big time” Christmas gathering. The details of this year’s gathering are yet to be consolidated and laid downed. The idea of having this post is gather names to be included in the “guest list”. Yes, I am making it complicated ( hehe). This will help me make head counts on the total attendees of this gathering I am cooking MYSELF (in case, this is still not effective in telling you I need help).

So, if you are someone who belongs to the Advertising and PR class 4-2n batch 2007, kindly click on the COMMENTS link on the footer below this post. Simply include your name, your most active email and mobile number, plus you suggestion of location, December date of the gathering, and maybe a theme you want. Yes, there will be a theme and you will all live with it (another hehe).

I will try to make this year’s gathering a tiny bit special than what we had last year. So please (without me kneeling) cooperate! I’ll keep you guys updated so, keep coming back on this blog if you don’t want to feel like you’re living in a place without any wifi signal or Globe satellite ( third hehe).

Happy Holidays everyone!

FUNNY COMMERCIAL

Here's a new commercial currently running in Philippine TV featuring Sting Energy Drink. I like the way that they combined Humor, Fiction and Slice of Life in this TVC material. Anyways, enough of my words, enjoy this!

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

GEORGE PUTONGYes, I have to squeeze in this post amidst my amazingly busy working life now. I need some breather and of course, I need to articulate the joy in knowing Barack Obama won the 2008 US Presidential elections. I defy the idea that his campaign was grand. He got this attention from mainstream media and all over because people believe in his advocacy for change. All kudos to the first (physically and by blood) black president of the powerhouse of the United States!

Another thing that makes me happy is when I saw the news last night. Aside from the lowering price of gas and public transport fares, one of our fellow Filipino blogger (vlogger actually) was featured in CNN’s ireport. George Putong, a creative man working for one of the largest TV network in our country, made a video themed to support Barack Obama. It was simple, full of wits and yes, very definitive. No wonder it was chosen. I don’t know, but it was like a breath of fresh air seeing how bloggers these days are lifted for strong opinions and high articulations of views and perspectives.
