The Crush Crush List 2

Nothing can really make my day but good sights. It can be the freshness of the sunburst or the simple smile of any creature I encounter. Certainly, good human symmetry will always make me feel good. Not that I don’t acknowledge “inner beauty”; I just can’t help but admire the beautiful blessings of God. On this very note, I d like to present to you my Crush Crush list number 2.

Drum roll please. Blow the trumpet. Let go the elephants and tie Angelina Jolie on the chair. What I basically want to say is, here are the girls! Woot Woo!

Blair WaldorfLeighton Meester (Blair Waldorf of Gossip Girl) : That lips, the beautiful accent and the man-pleasing choice of clothing. Who would not glue his eye on this girl? Tell me or are you crazy?Project Runway PhilippinesTheresa Herrera (Host of Project Runway Philippines) : She doesn’t
play the Goddess stature, but that makes all the difference. Shes an understated God of beautiful face symmetry. Take one glance and you’ll surely take the day off just to stare at her.
Dewee Valiente
Dewi Valiente (April’s best buddy in the office) : Well, it has been revealed by the my super B* best friend that I do have this crush for this girl. Shes very perky and her smile is sheer cuteness. April told me that Philippines can be hit by a huge storm but Dewi will still be up and running with great fashion sense all the time. See? I’ve got taste. =) Mara ReyesMara Reyes (Fashion Designer, Finalist Project Runway Philippines) : Shes not to girly that’s why I like her. I always look forward to her uncanny remarks on the show. I like her subtle but confident stance. Knowing that she posses this great taste for visual arts makes me more attracted. Goddie luck Mara.

So there, were done with my Crush List for the season. Hmmm, I think there will be list number 3. Well, you can’t blame me; I have this great appreciation for God’s gift. (Insert devil smile here.)

Who's The Biggest Loser?

Whenever I see this segment “Spoiled Brat” in GMA 7’s Bubble Gang, I can’t help but really laugh. Ogie Alcasid and Michael V simply contain that natural bliss of humor and “bastardom”. But seeing through the bigger picture, there should be a substantial thought underlying the most prevalent catch phrase of the segment – “Yaya… You’re such a loser!”

The term LOSER is quite a “word fad” these days. But, how do we really define the term? Aside from the party who loses a game or a competition, what are the other connotations attached to being a LOSER? Going back to “Spoiled Brat”, Does the portrayed character of Michael V defines a loser? A native maid with a not so familiar accent and dated fashion choice with a not so flattering body figure – do all these define that LOSER term? For me, it’s a little offensive and highly stereotyping.

When you are an individual who termed someone a loser, it automatically means that you look at yourself superior enough to be on top of other people. It basically dictates that your mind is working on the thought that you are better than others. Be it better in the way you dress, talk, or maybe better by figures of your wealth or level of education. Certainly, no one in the right mind would utterly say they are better than others. But, I’m sure these thoughts linger in people’s minds. I think this thought is a significant pigment of our confidence.

Do we term a loser by non conformity in social norms; or maybe because they won’t agree with our ideas? Do we call someone a loser because of mere physical traits or we call someone a loser because however we see all the angles, we conclude that we simply don’t like that someone. With me, lost in these thoughts of how to define a loser makes me a loser myself?

If the world is all about comparison, then maybe each one of us is a loser; because in the subliminal egoistic world, no one wants to be beaten out without a fight.

Advertising and Public Relations

The title is also the Bachelors degree I graduated with at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. I feel like I was really meant to be part of this college. When my freshman days started, I realized that I can be creative and articulate only if I will really get into it. I don’t know, but they say that the gift of communications skill is something really wonderful. In my case, I just feel like this is the only thing I know of. This is the only job I can do. To tell you a brief story of how I got into this course, is like summarizing it into three words-Test of Character.

I did not finish my entrance exam in PUP. I thought that my parents would send me somewhere else. Then I received this letter from the university saying that I passed the exams and was scheduled for the day 5 enrollments. Day 5? - This is the last day so it practically means that all shining shimmering courses are taken. Oh well, I was planning to take up Mass Com. I was thinking that maybe few people of my generation would want to do broadcasting jobs. I was wrong. I am left on the waiting list prepared just in case some colleges open. College of Business opened with 3 courses-Management, Marketing and Advertising and PR. Each course got 100 enrollees and I was not even chosen. My sister inquired about the basis of selection and was told that they scanned high school report cards. She insisted that my grades are impressive enough which convinced this one chairperson. There I was happy that I got in as one of the freshmen of Advertising and PR course!

I am now a proud graduate. I am now working in one of the fierce advertising agency on a local base. One thing just makes me wonder- how people perceive my Bachelors degree. When friends and relatives ask about the course I graduated with, I always get two reactions after I answer- a blank face or a “wow!”. I wouldn’t really give it a big deal, but I can’t help but wonder what’s up with the reaction. Whatever it is, I’m happy with the industry I belong with right now. Imagine, a world without advertisements? People will be left with slim choices for products and services and worst, streets will be dull and peaceful in a bad taste. =)

Sen. Ping Lacson for Facial Care Center

Facial Care Center

With Sen. Ping Lacson on this ad, will you even doubt the facial center’s quality of service?

Tell me, can we blame a brand if it wishes to attach their name with the credibility of a politician?

But, tell me – can we blame people from putting up a dubious face whenever they see politicians on glossy magazine ads or on spread broadsheets?

Even news anchors are careful with product endorsements.

I see no significant deal with politicians endorsing products for as long as they only use their name to expound the product value and not their own mantra of obtaining and/or maintaining public office.
There shouldn’t be any politicking in the arena of product and/or service advertising.

Sunday And My Attitude

Last Sunday, mom and I had the chance to go to church together after weeks of my church hiatus. Oh well, it was because she spent going to church with my sister and my nephews Sean and Santino for like many weeks. So there it was, we arrived 10 minutes before the mass starts do I took time to send my special prayers for special people who need it.

Then the mass started. It was smooth until a family came with 3 “caffeine-induced like energy” kids. I swear, they were all over the place. Not to be rude or judging, but they obviously smell incredibly foul. “tumatambay sa ilong!” When I thought the agony is done, a group sat on the back area half way through within the mass- Three not so fit women chatting like they brought coffee cups and curling irons inside the church. I felt rude eavesdropping but I think it was not eavesdrop at all thinking that their mouth volumes were very symmetrical to that rate you need in public speaking in front of a gazillion deaf people. Imagine the forces of these two crowds, my mom and I were left with the choice of pretending like we understood the homily.

Sunday mass is very sacred for me. It’s the time when I try my very best to pay attention and avoid day dreaming. I dress my best and I put up my most polite manner whenever I step into the church grounds. I hope that people will do the same. Not that Im placing myself like Im the nicest Sunday school boy, all I am asking for is respect for the mass. Its enough that the Catholic religion has been thrown so many stones on the undergoing, let us try to prove it all wrong.

Maskara - Rivermaya

On a monday, let me share to you this current song of the new Rivermaya.
Maskara,as we all know is also a title coming from the lately buzzed about
Eraserheads. But, this Rivermaya hit is quite different. The beat and melody is very contemporary and the lyrics are poetical but not cheesy. I am actually looking for the MP3 but my efforts were no good. Please share it to me in case you have one. Listen to it now, as I have again included the lyrics here. The video is very colorful yet simple.By the way, the prelude beat is simply infectious hahaha. Who would have thought infectious can be a term to
describe Rivermaya's song?

Kwento ko sa'yo ngayon
Maupo ka't wag ka lilingon
Wari ba'y parang pabula
Hihigit sa sandaang taon
Simple hangarin ko
Sanay wag mapunta sa iyo
Ako na lang ang sasalo dahil sanay na
ako dito

[Chorus:]Ngayon magingat sa tao na may maskara
[2x]

Si mister personality
Makikita mo gabi gabi
Panay text kong anong gimk mo
Bakit biglang close na kayo
Kunwari sya'y bestfriend mo
Dati'y walang paki sa'yo
Panay ngiti parang aso
Biglang tinubuan pa ng puso
Teka wag kang mag-alala
May isang senyales pa
Bukasan ang yong mga mata
Hindi mahirap makita
Baka nasa harapan mo na
Nagmimistulang buwaya
Kinakain lang ang salita
Lumolunok ng kaluluwa

[Repeat Chorus 4x]

Bridge:Maskara... Ingat ka... Maskara... Ingat ka... Maskara...
[Chorus]

Ngayon mag ingat sa tao na may maskara
Mag ingat sa tao na may maskara
Ngayon mag ingat sa tao na may maskara
Mag ingat sa tao na may maskara

Reality Show Hosts at Emmys 2008

Emmy Awards The 60th Primetime Emmy Awards for television will take the center stage this coming Sunday, September 21. I am highly anticipating this year’s academy because five of America’s ace reality shows hosts will serve as masters of the ceremonies. Ryan Seacrest ( American Idol) who had a solo steer wheel at last year’s Emmys will return as host this year with Heidi Klum, ( Project Runway)Tom Bergeron,(Dancing with the Stars) Howie Mandel, (Deal or no Deal?) and Jeff Probst, (Survivor). Exciting right?

The five hosts promise to make fun of one another so as to get away from the usual journalism style of hosting. They are all out to keep the show lively and put the crowd’s attention to the worthy nominees. Another great thing is that Emmys will now give worthy honor to Reality show hosts which I think is right because television has been twisted in a very good taste as reality shows came in. The guys were asked if they will take Klum’s advice on what to wear, they all agreed to follow through.

I hope my favorites will take home the awards.
So, who’s your Academy bet? Did I hear House? Oh You say Ugly Betty? Ahh, she's rooting for Brothers and Sisters. =)

Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and The Twilight

So after me and a gazillion more danced our way into the calendar and starred November to highlight our excitement for the 6th installation of the Harry Potter series- Harry Potter and the Half-blood prince, we are now on a downer holding grip to our seatmate’s tangled hair, I mean into the threads of our patience as we all sit back and wait until July 17, 2009 which is by the way the moved date of Harry Potter 6. I would just have to accept this as a good light knowing that the last two movie franchises will soon end. So I’d say, this is the sweetest waiting agony ever. Anyways, HP 6 is directed by David Yates with Steve Kloves for the screenplay.

Now, because I always get the chills whenever I hear this trademark bed sound of Harry Potter movie, I am posting the Half-blood prince movie trailer here.

Now, to appease the somewhat dismayed crowd of HP lovers, Summit entertainment will show the Twilight movie. Many Harry Potter fans are showing high appreciation for this novel made by the genius of Stephenie Meyer. The synopsis can be canned in a very simple structure – a girl who fell in love with a vampire. But, there are more to see than this simple description so here is a swift but sweet trailer. The movie is directed by Catherine Hardwicke with Melissa Rosenberg for the screenplay.

Now, a book saved my depression from the almost blatant farewell of HP. Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Percy is a son of Posiedon, the God of Sea. Unlike Harry, Percy is more active and this could be because he is a demigod. Now, like HP, this book is also on a wonderful series of titles -The Lightning Thief (2005) The Sea of Monsters (April 1, 2006) The Titan's Curse (May 1, 2007). The Battle of the Labyrinth (May 6, 2008). The Last Olympian (May 5, 2009).

These are all authored by Rick Riordan and are now available in National Bookstore. Book 5 The Last Olympian will be released May 2009.

Here are the covers of the different titles.

World Sight Day

October 9 will mark the World Sight Day. In line with this, Makati police and Eye bank foundation of the Philippines ( EBFP) partner together to cook up series of programs to celebrate the importance of sharp sight in everyday activities of us humans specially the tasks up the sleeves of those people in uniform.

With this partnership, an innovative program has been juiced up in Makati City. Just for today, traffic violators in the City will be released off the hook in the condition that they will put a check on the box situated at the back of a driver’s license which signifies their agreement to donate their eyes and other organs in case of death.

Obliviously tagged as “Ticket Mo Sagot ko, Basta I-Donate Mo Ang Mga Mata Mo” (Your ticket is on me, as long as you donate your eyes), the program aims to instill greater appreciation for the sight and concern for the fellow. Other organs will also be accepted, but EBFP jokingly said that sex organ donors are forbidden for that entails a different story.

I was laughing upon reading this news item, but hey it is really fascinating. The Makati traffic is really strict in implementing rules but there will always be tones of violators around. I think it’s quite noble to donate an organ upon death; it’s like giving longevity to the gifts given to us by the big Guy up there.
So, will you be driving around Makati today? I suggest keep your eyes wide for red lights and No U-turn slots or police will ask for your balls, Uhm Cornea I mean.

Face Off

Before anything else, I had a sit down talk with Webster to extract a credible definition of Competition.

Competition : n.
The act of seeking, or endeavoring to gain, what another is endeavoring to gain at the same time; common strife for the same objects; strife for superiority; emulous contest; rivalry, as for approbation, for a prize, or as where two or more persons are engaged in the same business and each seeking patronage; - followed by for before the object sought, and with before the person or thing competed with.

Right after writing in down on my palm, he slapped me on the face then told me to jump off my bed because it is after all another week to get started with. Man, did I just have a dream about some stiff competition running around the society today? Mind you, it was large in scope for I even had a dream about the hot issues of presidential race in US. =)

Having this dream made me ink my hands up again and write about some of the most interesting rivalries currently grilling in our hotpots.
Now, if you are ready then I am more ready than you. Place on your bets and let’s get started to gamble, I mean ramble.
Throwing the first blood, it’s Barack Obama (for the Democrats) Vs. John McCain (Republicans).

Barack Obama Vs. John McCain Will America go for the conventions? Or will they go for some rocking principles?
Then lets go a little easy with David Vs. David.

David ArchuletaIt has been said that David Cook will be releasing his very first album this November 18 with album title strictly confidential. Now, David Archuleta’s party is cooking motives to do Archie’s album launch same day as Cook’s. The Man Diva against the Rocker saga continues.

Now, lets go back to the hardcore with Sen. Manny Villar (Philippine Senate President) Vs. Sen. Panfilo Lacson. Manny Villar With the C5 road extension issues, Who has the better fashion sense? I mean who’s carrying the real advocacy for the nation? And who’s on it for the thrills of limelight?

And, now for my favorite rivalry- Ateneo Blue Eagles Vs. De la Salle Green Archers for the UAAP championship. UAAP 2008Being the rivals who bring in record breaking number of crowds in every game they will star in, the most historic university rivals are out to prove who has the most wealth, I mean who has the glory of a real basketball champion. I heard the tickets for the first game were sold out within 3 hours. This will be a best of 3 game by the way.
And finally, the alarming rivalry of our ever injured Peso Vs. Dollar. Peso-Dollar devaluationMajor companies dictating the passage of International economy are undergoing great financial glitches. My father is sending dollar remittances, but there are no reasons for me to party about the dollar strength, really there isn’t.
Rivalry is good, for as long as it won’t be personal. It brings out the best, but it shouldn’t bring out the demons. Much said, time to end this and shout at the bastards drilling the pavements outside- its irritatingly noisy!

Self Love

I’ve been contemplating to write about this topic for a very long time. I know for sure that writing about this topic will definitely give definition to the aim of this blog- to articulate what is discreet. Quite a bold imposition on myself I know. But, I’m not taking this in to make myself shining. My aim is to be truthful and realistic. I am trying to show the deepest pore of every surface. Now, I am also contemplating on jazzing up the face and concept of this blog. I still want to keep the first aim and add some things that will help me widen the crunch of my every get go.

Now go back to the first sentence and head right back here. The topic I’m talking about is “self love”. Nah, I am so not talking about Narcissism. Now, too much articulation may lead to some unfavorable response to my stance so let me try to conceal some terms and words and phrases just so I can preserve my “wholesome” personality here. =) “Self love” has been prevalent among guys, but just recently girls immerged to have the same “deed” too. Taboo will dictate that this act is insane. It is not right to do self love because it basically abuses one’s respect for him/her. Plus, the fact that doing the deed needs lots of “inspiration” and this I need not expound about.

Now, self love has gone a long way from just a basic “individual activity”. We all know that the world being mobile has paved the way to online socializing. It has also paved the way to online “romance”. The advent of webcams and unlimited call services have made “self love” more interesting as what some people will claim. Not to judge or anything, but I personally find the idea lame.

Perversion or human nature- You do the math.

Do you do much self love too? No malice attached. No pun intended. (Whoa! I’m being too defensive)

Survivor Philippines

survivor philippines

After the many franchises done here in the Philippine shores of American reality shows, my nightmare now came into being. Survivor, the pioneer of all reality shows now has its Philippine version. Come September 15, the 39 days worth of shooting and challenges will be shown in GMA 7. The Philippine version has Thailand as the setting. Island Kol Tarutao looks all unfamiliar and Asian which makes the cinematography of the show expensive like how it should be. I have seen how GMA 7 made reality shows and I am hoping that this franchise will be a good one.

The plugs and TV promos look promising. I also heard from one review that the owners of Survivor trademark were amazed by the craftsmanship of GMA crew when they made the Tribal Council from basically nothing. Makes us proud right? Well, small Filipinos can make a house out of tarpaulins so what more if all grand tools are available?

PHP 3,000,000.00 Tax Free is the best catch in this reality show. If I am one of the finalists, I will do everything in my power and capabilities to win it. The 18 castaways themselves are interesting. It is a truly diverse group of people from yaya to mechanic and lingerie model. I will try to follow the show, but I doubt that I can follow through and through because the elclaves house is basically a Kapamilya domain. But, we’ll see.

Here are the 18 castaways of Survivor Philippines!

Kristina "Kaye" Alipio, lingerie model

Leona Rica "Nikki" Dacullo, call center agent

Jervy "Patani" Daño, 20, babysitter

Veronica "Vern" Domingo, 29, taekwondo coach

Vevherly Gador, 20, student

Chevyline "Chev" Macias, 26 years old, former GRO

Zita Ortiga, 46, laundrywoman

Maria Nona "Niña" Ortiz, designer/wellness coach

Anna Charisse Yacapin, 26, product officer

Marlon Carmen, 30, waiter

Crisanto "Cris" Cartagenas, company driver

Emerson Dino, 31, technician

John Anthony Lopez, 27, auto mechanic/model

Raymund Francis "Kiko" Rustia, model

Cesar "Gigit" Sulit, 48, web designer/mountaineer

Robert Vincent "Rob" Sy, sales officer

John Carlo "JC" Tiuseco, 23, basketball player
Reynaldo "Jace" Chanco Flores, Jr., Hunky Martial Arts/Gym Instructor

Paolo Bediones is hosting the show, so Apir tayo dyan!

The Reality of Betty

betty la fea

I have seen the pilot episode of ABS-CBN’s “I love Betty La Fea” and I must say that the twist of the story is quiet a catch. It is obvious that they made a fusion of the American franchise (Ugly Betty) and Mexican take ( Yo soy Betty la Fea). It is also obvious that I am a follower of the series. Oh well, I am actually hooked to the American version. The trademark of Betty La Fea has been so ubiquitous and powerful. Why so? Maybe it is realistic in execution and definitive in story. Would you believe that there is such an intelligent loser like Betty?

She is intelligent. She is an achiever. She has an interesting fashion inspiration. All of the superlatives were accumulated in her being, but why is she such a loser? Why did she have a hard time being hired for a job? Why did she struggle for love? Do all of these questions boil down to one answer? That all of her substances as a human being are out staged by the fact that she is physically down sided.

“With pleasing personality” – this is a prevalent qualification in almost all job vacancy there is. This does not necessarily means a super model stance right?

“Attraction is purely physical” – they say scoring a date starts with having a well-polished get up and spa-generated skin. Whatever happened to inner beauty? Ha Ha Ha.

Maybe, the Betty phenomenon really exists. It may not be a conscious effort to be a Betty prodigy but maybe it just happens. We all know that in the end, Betty will gain the beauty and be the shining element of the plot. Does this hold true when they say that beauty is really bias. That physical looks matter in success. That ugliness is a problem and beauty is a bullet? Tell me, will you nod on these?

Her name is Lucia

Today marks the nth year of my mother’s existence. I opt not to tell her age for I have this conscious effort to forget the year she was born because I don’t want to grow figures in my mind that she is getting old. I am scared to see her age, but I know that it’s the natural process. Oh well, it’s not right to discuss anything negative in this post. So with all of my might and gladness, a big shout of birthday greetings to my mom!

Always, in my prayer I make sure to say thank you for having her. We all consider our mothers the best. But my mom is simply different with no efforts. She is not the cheesy “malambing to the highest power” type, but I always feel secured and special whenever she’s around. I am proud of her because she remains the humble woman of simple grace and bliss. I am particularly proud that my mom is blessed with the intellect and opinions that are well substantiated. She’s not the type who will clamor for gossips even if she stays at home. Above all, she is blessed with the taste for good things and good food. Yippee!

I pray for longer life for my mom and more fierce health too. She’s being careful about her food, because she almost caught diabetes. We are actually watching her food intake since then. I hope you too can send your love for her. I have her pictures here. Now, you know where I got the genes. Ha Ha Ha

The Man Who Can't be Moved

Just like what our local DJ Delamar ( Monster Radio RX 93.1) said, If someone made this song for you there shouldn’t be any reaction but flattery. And I couldn’t agree more. “The Man who Can’t be Moved” by the Script is my song of the moment- Beautiful melody and hopeless romantic words. Hate it or love, Id says its very radio friendly. I just hope it wont be used in any cheesy local TV drama.

The video is quite simple yet its descriptive and well, it fits the song well. I have included the lyrics here, so please by all means drop the shyness and sing your heart out!
Is it obvious that I’m too lazy to write these days? Ha Ha Ha. I hope to be back in the zone soon, but please stay within my radar.

The Man Who Can't Be Moved

The Script

Going back to the corner where I first saw you,

Gonna camp in my sleeping bag.

I'm not gonna move, Got some words on cardboard got your picture in my hand,

Saying if you see this girl can you tell her where I am,

Some try to hand me money they don't understand,

I'm not... broke I'm just a broken hearted man,

I know it makes no sense, but what else can I do,

How can I move on when I've been in love with you...

Cos if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me,

And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I can be,

Thinking maybe you'd come back here to the place that we'd meet,

And you'd see me waiting for you on the corner of the street.

So I'm not moving... I'm not moving.

Policeman says son you can't stay here,

I said there's someone I'm waiting for if it's a day, a month, a year,

Gotta stand my ground even if it rains or snows,

If she changes her mind this is the first place she will go.

Cos if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me,

And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I can be,

Thinking maybe you'd come back here to the place that we'd meet, A

nd you'd see me waiting for you on the corner of the street.

So I'm not moving... I'm not moving.I'm not moving... I'm not moving.

People talk about the guy Whos waiting on a girl... Oohoohwoo

There are no holes in his shoesBut a big hole in his world... Hmmmm

Maybe I'll get famous as man who can't be moved,

And maybe you won't mean to but you'll see me on the news,

And you'll come running to the corner...

Cos you'll know it's just for youI'm the man who can't be moved

I'm the man who can't be moved...

Cos if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me,

And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I can be,

Thinking maybe you'd come back here to the place that we'd meet,

And you'd see me waiting for you on the corner of the street.

[Repeat in background]

So I'm not moving... I'm not moving.I'm not moving... I'm not moving.

Going back to the corner where I first saw you,

Gonna camp in my sleeping bag not I'm not gonna move.

The Godfather

The Godfather

Francesca Heleana Caalim Sanchez, I just love the name of my 2nd Goddaughter. She is also my fourth Godchild. We all opt to call her F&H for this is the favorite clothing brand of her mom, Monalisa-> my high school friend. I find really weird for us to called as ninongs and ninangs because we are practically a crazy crowd. Goodluck na lang kay Cheska in her future with us as her so called second parents.

Moving along, it was a hot Sunday noon when Cheska’s christening took place. We were all complaining on how warm it was that day. It’s that temperature which will make you feel sticky and all. Good thing I had a real generous sprays of my best friend body spray AXE, I skipped having a bad sweat day. Good thing that Cheska is really charming, we all had a good time witnessing her enter the Christian world.

I was not aware that people from the other car were already discussing plans after the reception when we left the church. When we arrived at the reception, they told me that a swimming party is being cooked later that night. Hmmm not a bad idea since the weather is really angry hot. We all agreed to go home when the clock hits 5 and then meet up at 6. Too bad that Monalisa can’t join us; Oh well, we promised her a huge gimmick to celebrate her being sexy again after her pregnancy. Woot Woo!

So, there it was. After a hot after, evening came in with a heavy downpour of rain. But even the loudest moan of thunders and lightning won’t stop us. Jess had this new water proof camera by Olympus, so we all went cam whores under the sea- oh I mean under the pool. I still haven’t got my copies of my under water shots so maybe ill just post it on my FS account.
That Sunday was really crazy. We even planned to do it every end of the month. I am actually hoping it will push through. My High school friends are basically the same with what I had in college, but we have grown more intimate because we are all living in one city.
Don’t you miss your high school days?

Solmux Advocacy

Its time for a little local commercial review again! This Solmux commercial is designed by Jimenez Basic Advertising. They came to call it “Ray of light” for reasons I’m not aware about. This material basically aims to relay a message of concern for health. It is actually very revealing because we can normally see people spitting all around. Worst are people spitting while they are on a moving bus. Imagine yourself standing in the sidewalks wondering why are there drizzles on a very hot afternoon? Then you realize its not rain water but some slimy human fluid. Ha Ha Ha. “Ewww moment!”

The message is blunt and simple. I just hope people will be affected in a significant way with this. We are aware of tuberculosis and how fast it is transferred. News also has it that a new breed of TB has been found which is highly defying medicines. Scary it may sound so we shall all gurad our health and be discreet and responsible with our own human waste. Not all grounds are meant for spitting!

Id says kudos to Unilab for this advocacy TV campaign!

Piolo and Dingdong for Pond's (The Making)

Even before Pond’s lay down their PR campaigns for the Dream Date promo, print journalists and some television shows are already sparking controversial stints on this breakthrough in getting talents for advertising materials. I am expecting this campaign to really take a hit. I have seen how my dear friend April worked hard for this one. She is by the way, the media planner of Pond’s. I’ll take this chance to congratulate her for this highly talked about project. WTG B! Woot Woot!

Anyways, just to show you guys a tiny part of how the Dream date TV commercial was done, April handed me these videos she took of the actual shoot. Seeing the way it was done is something I know you guys would love to see. In this first video, we can see the part wherein Piolo and Dingdong will walk towards two ladies to hand them each with a rose. This is the ending of the TVC.

Now, I know this question lingering in your mind- “Did they talk during the shoot?” Quite an understandable question because Piolo and Dingdong are A list stars of two rival giant networks. We will probably wonder if they will have common stuffs to talk about. Thinking about it, maybe the fact that they are both million peso endorsers is quite a similarity. Also, theyre both uhm guys right? So they have common pace, right? He He He. Well, hopefully this video will answer that small query you have in mind. One thing I noticed is that Dindong is really more firm and uhm manly, while Piolo is a little fluid and off guard. Also, notice how Piolo noded in the part wherein a PA handed them their respective rose.

Yugto

Just this morning, my office mates were asking me if I tuned in to Magic 89.9 because Rico Blanco, the former mane man of Rivermaya had a radio launch at MO twister’s radio program. I find it quite a bummer because I am glued to RX all the time especially during my travel time. According to my officemates, Rico performed songs that are beyond compared. His songs according to them will leave you gasping in awe and amazement. Actually, I heard his single YUGTO once when they first played it in Magic. There were teasers about it, so I was really intrigued. I am actually rooting for the talent Rivermaya “had” before Bamboo and Rico left the band. True, Rivermaya is still on the scene, but it is quite evident that the loud mantra set by former vocalists Bamboo and Rico will always be outstanding beyond compare.

Anyways, Rico Blanco’s first solo album is produced by Warner Music with ten tracks amazingly recorded. To start off, here is his first single YUGTO with its lyrics and Youtube clip. Send in your shouts and let me know just how you find this very poetical song. Chills!

Yugto
Rico Blanco

Leeg mo’y pupuluputan dugo mo’y sisipsipin
